How does it work?

Buying a saddle

Complete this questionnaire to help us match a saddle to you and your horse:

Second Hand Saddle Request Form

Standard Service

Have a look through the saddle listings and if you are interested in one contact us with any queries you have that aren't included on the listing.

Once you've chosen one, you pay us the listed price and we'll post it to you fully insured.

We can advise on saddle fit, or put you in touch with a fitter from 'The Western Saddler Ltd' to come and check the fit. You should arrange for a professional saddle fitter to check the fit of the saddle during the trial period.

If you have paid for a saddle we can keep it on reserve for you for up to 14 days before posting it so you can arrange for a fitter to visit during the trial period.

You can trial it for two weeks. If it's not suitable you can return it to us (at your expense) and we'll refund the cost less £60 to cover postage and admin.

If you like it, you keep it!

NB - You can only trial one saddle at a time!

Premium Service

Send us a template of your horse's back and we'll then check all the saddles we have in stock to see if we have an approximate match to your horse's shape, taking into consideration your needs as a rider.

If you like the saddle we'll send it to you to trial for two weeks. If it's not suitable you can return it to us and we'll refund the cost less £60 to cover postage and admin.

The cost of this matching service is £50 (not including the cost of the template)

Ways of making a template:

  1. We'll put you in touch with a Lantra trained western saddle fitter who can take a template of your horse's back. The cost of this will depend on the saddle fitter, this price is not set by us.
  2. If you have an iPhone you can download the Horseshape3Dscan app, (not available on Android) take a digital scan of your horse's back and order the FittingSet from HorseShape.
  3. We can send you a wire template to shape to your horse's back at £30 including postage.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that the saddle will fit based on the template but there is a much higher chance that it will without using the template. You should get the fit checked by a qualified saddle fitter during the trial period.

If we can't match your horse with a saddle we will keep your template and check all new saddles when they come in, or we can send it back to you for you to look for a saddle privately. Or you can choose to book a consultation with a 'The Western Saddler Ltd' certified saddle fitter who can measure your horse for a custom saddle.

By purchasing a saddle through us you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the Terms and Conditions
